Using the website 'PROMO.com', I made my Netflix video ad to add onto the Netflix print ad I made...

*This commercial contained copyrighted content (the movie clips), as this is for EDUCATIONAL and PERSONAL usage only, and not to make a profit, I am able to use the video clips for this video. If you go to my original post on this trailer, I reference the copyrighted content which I have used.
Here are the steps I took, using PROMO.com to make the commercial...
1. Selecting and converting the YT Clips
After creating the script, I chose the clips from YouTube.com and using the website 'YMP4', I converted them to HD MP4 clips. Then I downloaded them to my computer and made a folder called 'Netflix commercial' so that I could easily find them later.
2. Uploading them to PROMO.com
This took a while, but I ended up uploading all 8 clips to my account on PROMO. I found PROMO by simply searching online for 'Best free online video editors' and it was one of the first suggestions.
It took roughly 3 minutes to upload and process each clip to my 'Library' on PROMO, after that it meant that I could use them for any project I want to.
3. Creating a new project (and adding the clips)
I clicked on 'NEW PROJECT', then selected the 8 clips that I was about to use. Before cropping the clips down, I changed the transition effect from 'Fade' to 'None' and also ordered the clips by categories (the order is shown on the script on my original post [^link above^]).
4. Cropping each clip down to 2 seconds
Next, using the mouse, I shortened each clip down to 2 seconds (by clicking and dragging on the edge of each clip on the timescale). I did this so that the trailer could be as seamless as possible (and not boring).
5. Adding captions
Using the text tool, I added captions in-between each category of clips ('Comedy', 'Action', 'Drama' and 'Kid's Movies') so that the concept of the trailer made more sense to the viewer - if I hadn't included captions, the trailer would not of had as much meaning.
In addition, I made the font bold and red to match the Netflix logo and user interface - I thought this would have added to the aesthetic.
6. Adding the soundtrack
PROMO offers a selection of Royalty-Free audio clips. I used the soundtrack 'Iron Shells' by 'Nonte and Shaw' - the soundtrack has a high tempo and makes the commercial more exciting. Also, the beat of the soundtrack happens to match the 2 second clip theme of the video, which makes it more aesthetically pleasing to watch.
The way in which the soundtrack ends also matches the ending of the trailer (where the Covid-19 message shows up).
*ONCE AGAIN, FOR THE REFERENCES TO THE CLIPS, GO TO MY OTHER POST (^LINK ABOVE^) WHERE I EXPLAIN THE FACT THAT I HAVE USED THE REGISTERED CLIPS FOR EDUCATIONAL AND PERSONAL USAGE ONLY.
7. Uploading 'Netflix X WHO' logo and graphic
From the internet, I downloaded both the Netflix logo and the World Health Organization logo and then (using BeFunky online editor) I made the 'Netflix X WHO graphic' to show at the end of the trailer (this is just a white canvas with the two logos and a text box ['X'] to prove that the commercial is for a good cause), I thought this would be a good idea as PROMO.com allows you to upload graphics as well as video files.
In addition the 'Stay inside. Save lives' is the morale of the story and is a link to the present Covid-19 pandemic.

8. Sharing URL to Blogger.com
Now that I have finished my trailer, it is ready to be used for my media course. All I had to do was save the project (using the title 'NETFLIX Commercial, By Tom W') and then click 'share URL' and linked it with my Media blog to finish.
EXcellent work Tom
