LO2 2.2 SWOT Analysis
One way of identifying the strengths/weaknessees of any work is by carrying out SWOT analysis - this tool allows you to identify any (S) Strengths, (W) Weaknesses, (O) Oppurtunities and (T) Threats within the content that you are analysing.
Here is me using SWOT analysis in order to determine the pros and cons of some of my work.
EXAMPLE WORK (My Netflix X World Health Organization* Promotion) -
SWOT Analysis of the work-
Strengths.
- Bold, contrasted text - easy to read
- Large Netflix logo, which makes the ad more personal to the viewer
- Good use of the relevant colours, which matches both the theme of Netflix's interface and also the colours of yellow and red can suggest the theme of danger (from the pandemic)
Weaknesses.
- Brief in content, small amount of information
- Doesn't actually explain how to stay safe during the pandemic (this was done at the beginning of the pandemic, when people knew little about it)
- The logo for the World Health Organization* is small and not very noticeable because of this
Oppurtunities.
- I can use this example to recreate the strengths of it in my future work
- I can use the weaknesses of this promotion in order to know what to improve on in future work
- The idea of this post was a relevant and clever concept
Threats.
- Since I have used the Netflix logo in this promotion, without permission, this would be problematic if I did this post in order to make revenue or personally gain anything from it - however, because this is for education purposes only, not professional, I should be able to use it
- The concept could be seen as a bit morbid/dark, since it is almost a joke about the pandemic - it is showing the positive side of it (that during lockdown you have much more free time)
*GRAMMAR - Since the World Health Organization is owned by the United Nations, which is headquartered in the United States, the logo and title uses modern, US English rather than traditional UK English, which is why I have also spelled it with a "Z" rather than an "S", as it is a name.
US English Spelling (Marriam-Webster Dictionary) - ORGANIZATION
