Here is the 'Shot on iPhone' promotion I made, as part of my Unit 20 'design your own advertising campaign' assignment, in which I am making;
- Netflix print ad
- Netflix video ad
- Shot on iPhone print ad
- Shot on iPhone video ad
Also, here is the video version...
GENERAL AUDIENCE (NICHE/MASS AUDIENCE)
The general audience would be the average consumer - the iPhone and its features, according to Apple, are for people who want the most out of a smartphone...It is for people who are willing to spend a little extra money for the best smartphone experience possible, whilst also getting the best features.
The aesthetic is a clean, white/grey appearance, with a cinematic image as the central focus. This would look good on billboards and public displays in train stations, airport terminals and shopping malls (in my opinion) as it matches the professional look you'd expect in a print-based promotion from a world-conglomerate.
The 'Shot on iPhone' campaign promotes the iPhone's camera and its features, which is why the image is the main focus here...The white/light grey theme matches Apple's existing theme, making it look more professional.
In addition, the tagline 'World's most popular camera' appeals to the niche audience which consumes Apple products only as they would find this fact appealing.
MATURITY
This is aimed at all ages - however, it is generally ages 13 and over who own their own smartphone, meaning that if I had to pick a maturity rating for this ad, I would go with a U, as it is suitable for all viewers.
GENDER
Both genders would find this product useful - the Apple ecosystem contains products and software aimed at both male and female audiences. For instance, a male may be more into sport-related apps, whereas the female may be into more social-based apps.
SOCIAL GRADE
With a starting price of $399, the iPhone may be too expensive for people with financial difficulties (such as insufficient funds or debt), so I would say this is an ABC1-based product.
REGULATORY/LEGAL/ETHICAL
The ASA and/or FTC may find issue with the use of;
- Shot on iPhone tagline
- Apple logo
- Apple theme
- Promotion of myself within this ad
In addition, I have more posts coming up soon regarding the pre-production processes involved.
