Risk Assessments/Health and Safety Considerations

RISK ASSESSMENT
Risk assessments are a mandatory considerations for all physical activities, from working out to filming a movie trailer to flying an airplane with passengers on it. It is the single most important consideration as it includes the well being and physical protection from disaster.

Here is an example of a risk assessment for a workout;

• Ensure gym equipment is functional and safe to use
• Ensure there are no liquids on the floor in which customers/staff members can slip/fall
• Make sure that the temperature levels within the gym are safe and optimal for the workouts
• Ensure there is enough space between machines for a safe environment

Here is an example of a risk assessment for filming a movie trailer;

• Make sure the location is safe for filming
• Check the weather forecast - dangerous/wet weather can cause problems for crew/actors
• Ensure all actors/crew are available at the time expected/schedualed
• Have a budget plan
• Have a contingency plan in case of a disaster situation

Here is an example of a risk assessment for a commercial flight;

• The aircraft (exterior) must be in perfect working condition for the ascension, cruising, descent and taxiing of the flight
• The cabin must be safe for passengers to be inside over a long period of time
• Safety systems such as oxygen masks, emergency exits and life jackets must be in full working order
• Seats, stow tables and hang luggage containers must be in safe, working condition

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Health and safety is the procedures and guidelines that all staff and customers must follow at all times, even without the disaster situation...

Including;

• Special clothing for certain occupations (a construction worker needs protective clothing, as does a military personnel)
• Safe working manner
• Mandatory procedures for everyday work (such as an usher in a hotel or an Uber driver)

The following associations regulate these guidelines within the UK territories and also have the right to charge penalties/imprisonment if a business is doing these wrong;

• The Health and Safety Executive [HSE] (Parliament, Westminster, Greater London)
• NEBOSH (Leicester, East Midlands)

*All of these considerations are a humane requirement to ensure both the safety and well being of all customers, employees and any other personnel
