Audiences can be segmented (or separated) into these four different categories of classification-
Geographic -
Characteristic associated with the region or territory in which the audience lives - can include unions, states, counties, cities or small townships/urbanizations

Demographic -
These are more personal to the audience; for instance, age, gender, race and social status are examples of demographic qualities

Behavioral -
The behavior/views of the audience can be measured through surveys, questionnaires, focus groups etc. and lets the company know how to correctly target their market - for instance, if their audience is mostly on a social media site such as Instagram, they will create media such as polls, posts and stories in order to gather information about their customers

Psycho-graphic -
These include broader categories such as lifestyle, hobbies/interests, opinions/values etc.
